See how parents are expressing their gratitude!
What Parents are saying
"Thank you so much for your time, dedication and for making my daughter feel comfortable and cared for! From the beginning to end we had our questions answered and it was obvious that you were gathering information from multiple places to ensure that you had what you needed for the assessment. I’m so grateful to have this information so we can help my daughter get the support she needs!"
"Dr. Bylund was an ideal evaluator for my son. He is low-key so he put my son at ease. But he is kind, intelligent, professional, and knowledgeable, and an excellent communicator. He took his time with my son for the evaluation and with me in explaining his impressions. He made himself available to the school district and explained his findings in an expert but collegial manner. We had to wait a long time for our appointment but he was worth the wait. We could not have asked for a better doctor! We are so thankful we found him!"
"Very positive experience, our daughter felt good about doing the testing and she was comfortable during the whole process. The report was actionable, we got the conclusive information we need now to take action to help our daughter early, and we are now working to put it into practice. Thank you!"
"SarahBeth was great and so knowledgeable!"
Frequently Asked Questions
Educational Therapy and Development Services
A full neuro-educational report is needed in instances where there are specific regulatory or legal requirements. These include circumstances such as a full IEE through the school district, or when there are specific guidelines that necessitate an in-depth discussion and explanation of all testing measures, differential diagnoses, and recommendations (e.g, applications for university or standardized testing accommodations, advocacy for community/agency services, etc). A parent may also choose to invest in a full neuro-educational evaluation if they anticipate needing the report for such purposes at a future point in time. And, if a child has a particularly complex profile, a full neuro-educational evaluation may be recommended by the clinic.
A summary report is typically recommended when the parents are seeking diagnostic clarity and recommendations for their child for their own personal use. This includes circumstances when parents need a high-level, big-picture snapshot of their child’s general learning and socio-emotional profile, applicable diagnoses, and recommended treatments and next steps.
Both a full and summary neuro-educational report area will assess all applicable areas of concern (e.g, ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, mood disorders, etc).
Still have questions? Set up a consultation call with one of our psychologists to get 1-1 guidance. If you proceed with testing, the cost of the call will be deducted from your assessment package fee.
Parents can request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) for their child by following a specific process. Here are the steps typically involved in requesting an IEE:
1. Notify the School District in Writing:
The request for an IEE must be made in writing to the school district or educational agency responsible for your child's education. It's essential to create a dated record of your request.
2. Specify the Reason:
In your written request, you are not required to state the reason why you are requesting the IEE, even if the school district asks. However, if you choose to state the reasons for your request, this may include concerns about the accuracy or appropriateness of the school's evaluation or assessments, disagreements with the results of the school's evaluation, or any other relevant issues (e.g., appropriateness of services, lack of progress towards IEP goals, etc.).
3. Request the IEE Provider:
If the school district agrees to provide an IEE, they will provide you with information about the process and may request your consent to the evaluation. Once you provide your consent, the IEE can be conducted.
The school district may provide a list of possible assessors for you, though you are not required to select an assessor from this list. The parents have the right to select the IEE provider as long as they meet certain criteria set forth by the school district. All psychologists at The Bylund Clinic meet IEE licensure requirements.
The Bylund Clinic has contracted with many school districts within the Bay Area and throughout the state of California. We have extensive experience in negotiating contracts and have established contracts with many districts. We are here to answer any questions throughout the process.
4. IEE Report:
Once the IEE is completed, you will receive a report detailing the findings, assessments, and recommendations made by the independent evaluator.
It's important to understand that the rules and procedures for requesting and conducting IEEs may vary by jurisdiction and may be subject to local and federal education laws. To ensure you follow the correct procedures, you may want to consult with an attorney or an advocate experienced in special education law. Additionally, you can review your state's or school district's specific policies and procedures related to IEEs, as they may provide guidance on the process.
